About Steve

Steve grew up in the Pasadena area having attended Jackson Intermediate, Deepwater Junior High and graduated from Deer Park High School. Steve attended San Jacinto College Central Campus and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business from University of Houston Clear Lake. Steve was raised in a family owned business that taught him core values such as how to take initiative, strong work ethic and the value of the dollar.

Steve began his career as a Sales Manager in the electronics industry and traveled extensively to the countries of Mexico, Canada, Ireland, England, Taiwan and China. In 2004, Steve's desire to be closer to his growing family guided him to make a career change and plant his business roots in the Pasadena area. Steve worked and trained under the Phelps family at Phelps State Farm, and in 2007 joined the commercial insurance broker Brady Chapman Holland & Associates (BCH) as a Risk Consultant. This profession involves designing and implementing a Risk Reduction Plan for his clients and this has prepared him to serve on city council because his work requires him to prioritize and look at how decisions positively affect the most important items of his clients business; the bottom line profit, relationship with their employees and relationship with their clients or citizens in the case of the city.

Whether it was working in his family owned business or the Phelps family owned business he learned that people's needs should be the number one priority. "I plan to bring to city hall that same level of commitment; the citizens' needs are the number one priority."

Steve and Amy are raising their daughters Morgan (5) & Meredith (2) in the heart of District G and have lived there these past 9 years.

Steve chairs two committees for the Economic Alliance Port Region and these two committees help connect local businesses with our local industries ensuring their success today and in the future. The Power Breakfast event that occurs twice a year is a forum style event designed to introduce local small business owners and representatives to procurement managers from our area industries and hear first hand the requirements for working with them. In addition to education, it's a great networking opportunity.

Port Region Educational Seminar Series (PRESS) is something new Steve initiated in order to bring economic expertise to our region so local businesses can monitor trends and opportunities in today's competitive business arena.
